Oldham Mountain Rescue Team

🚨 Callout – 04/07/26

On Saturday evening at 9.00pm, we were called to assist our neighbouring team, Glossop Mountain Rescue Team (GMRT), who had already been responding for a number of hours to an injured walker in a challenging area of Near Black Clough, Bleaklow.

A Coastguard helicopter had been requested but was unable to winch the casualty in the deteriorating conditions.

Due to the difficult location, the long, arduous stretcher carry now required, and not forgetting GMRT had already been commited to the incident for over 3 hours, additional support was requested from surrounding mountain rescue teams including OMRT. Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) were also in attendance.

By 11:00pm, 45 mountain rescue volunteers from four teams had safely and carefully carried the casualty to a waiting ambulance for onward care.

A great collaboration between partner agencies and multiple mountain rescue teams, resulting in a successful outcome.
