Protecting, enhancing and cherishing nature is at the heart of what we do.
 
The Northern Roots charity is creating what will be the UK’s largest urban farm and eco park, on 160-acres of urban green space in , Greater Manchester, on the foothills of the Peak District.
 
This year we open the doors to a beautiful new Welcome Building with café and shop serving fresh produce grown just metres away on our urban farm.
 
Our new Forestry Skills Centre will become a key learning hub in Oldham, providing nature-based training and education for all ages.
 
And our events and activities programme will inspire local people to connect with nature, discover the site's rich heritage and wildlife, learn about sustainable practices, and much more.

We are looking for a passionate, ambitious and experienced Head Chef to lead café operations, food production for the shop, and catering for meetings and events 🥬

Northern Roots is creating the UK’s largest urban farm and eco-park on 160-acres of underused greenspace in Oldham, Greater Manchester – a unique community hub and visitor destination. The charity aims to benefit the environment, and to improve the health, wellbeing and livelihoods of local communities. Food is at the heart of our vision.

Working alongside our Land Team, F&B General Manager and Chef-Partner Mary-Ellen McTague, you'll create seasonal menus showcasing produce grown on our urban farm and from local suppliers, lead café and catering operations, and champion sustainable food practices ♻️

This is a unique opportunity to help shape a destination café with social and environmental impact at its heart.

👉 £35,000pa, 40 hours per week
