Maybe your vision has changed or you need to get some new specs.
Thereโ€™s no need to drive to Barnard Castle for a sight test but how do you stay as safe as possible in these uncertain times?
Below I have listed a few ideas which I hope might prove helpful:

Look for an optician offering long appointment times (an hour is ideal) these longer times are to allow cleaning between procedures and a more thorough eye examination whilst reducing risk to a minimum through the use of PPE and routines such as photography to keep distancing as much as possible.
An optician who ideally offers a โ€œlocked doorโ€ policy where only 1 person or a couple are allowed into the practice at any one time.
Expect to pay a fee for this level of expertise, service and for your own peace of mind.
Only book a test if you need it, if you arenโ€™t having a problem with your vision and your specs are OK consider delaying that โ€œroutineโ€ sight test until you really need it.

Choose an optician who will select frames and bring them to you, who will be keeping track of any frames that have been handled and will deep clean every frame before returning them to display.
Consider spending a little more on a decent pair of specs or a second pair for computer use or reading, after all you might need them a lot more if this continues and the less visits you have to make the better.

If the vision is OK with your specs but the specs themselves need some TLC contact your optician to see what they can do for you, if the lenses are scratched but the vision is good simply replacing the lenses will often be good enough without the need for a test.

In the first instance always contact your optician and explain your concerns, many problems can be solved with a phone call or a solution offered.
