Relay For Life Nottingham
31/01/2024
Between 2006 and 2019 there were 14 Relay For Life Nottingham events. They were planned, organised and ran by volunteers whose aim was to find a way to beat cancer. They were hard work to organise but lots of fun was had by many people who took part. They were emotional events but through those emotions we found friendships that will last lifetimes.
The pandemic in 2020 brought Relay For Life Nottingham to an end but now, 4 years later I can announce that those 14 events raised an incredible £500,622.
Thank you to everyone who was a part of these wonderful events. Whether you were a committee member, team member, volunteer, CRUK staff, someone who provided us with a service or sponsorship or someone who made a donation, you helped us raise over HALF A MILLION quid for Cancer Research UK.
I am proud of us all.
Thank you!!
Together we are beating cancer.
Steve
It is with tremendous sadness that I have to tell you that Perry Unwin passed away yesterday.
For those who didn't know, Perry was a huge part of Relay For Life Nottingham. He was groundsman at Harvey Hadden and the person that made sure the gates were open and the venue was good to go. He helped the event committee with our planning and risk assessments and allowed us to store our equipment on site all year round for many years.
More importantly, most of us will remember Perry as the shining star of Saturday morning at Relay, as he trundled around on his buggy, helping as many people as possible get their tents, chairs, gazebos and camping gear to their specified camping area.
Yes, he was a star.
As event chair, I would like to pass on condolences to Perry's family from myself and Gill, the committee and everyone involved with Relay For Life Nottingham. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
Rest peacefully Perry!
