URN - University Radio Nottingham

Here at URN, we believe that it is vital that all voices are heard, especially at a time when many are being silenced.
This Friday, we will be clearing our schedule to present nonstop coverage of UoNโs decision to suspend a variety of their courses.
Across the day, we will be presenting a combination of discussions surrounding the changes as well as plenty of interviews with union representatives, students and staff affected by these cuts.
Starting off from 9am to 11am, and will be discussing the impact of the course suspensions on the department of music.
Then at 11am until 1pm, and will be covering how the MFL department have been affected.
From 1pm until 3pm, and will focus on the impact of these changes on the nursing department.
Then will close the show from 3pm until 5pm, dealing with other courses and ways in which students and staff have been affected.
We hope that through this coverage, you will see student and staff voices placed at the forefront of these issues.

On Monday, with the support of , we had the pleasure in meeting former Nottingham Student, Matthew Bannister!
After graduating from UoN in 1978, Bannister started out his broadcasting career at BBC Radio Nottingham. He later went on to work at Radio 1 before becoming Director of Radio, Chef Executive of Production and finally Director of Marketing and Communications at the BBC.
In recent years, Bannister has presented shows on Radio 5Live, the BBC World Service and currently Radio 4, as well as launching his award-winning Podcast Folk on Foot.
Matt spoke to us about pursuing a career in radio as well as giving us the best tips to help us launch a podcast, ending the session with a tour of our brand-new studio!
A huge thank you goes to Matthew for taking the time out of his schedule to come and talk to us, it was a pleasure to listen to all his insight!
Make sure to tune into the Folk on Foot Podcast, a show that combines Folk music and the outdoors, available on all major streaming services, Patreon and at folkonfoot.com
