๐ Finding Your Way Back to Training after the Flu! ๐ฌ๏ธโ๐๏ธ
With the onset of winter, cozy evenings with hot chocolate become a norm, but so does the yearly flu peak! ๐คง Despite the festive cheer, the flu's impact on our health is undeniable.
In my latest blog article (available in both ๐ฌ๐ง and ๐ฎ๐น), I dive into the question my clients often ask after recovering from the flu - "When can I return to the gym?" The answer isn't one-size-fits-all, and it involves understanding your unique situation.
Here's a sneak peek at what I discuss:
1๏ธโฃ Understanding Symptoms:
๐ "Neck-up" symptoms, like a cold, might allow for adjusted workouts.
๐ "Neck-down" symptoms are a signal that you need rest, especially if fever is present.
2๏ธโฃ Tailored Approach:
๐ Individual factors like health history influence training during illness.
๐ For some, light activities and fresh air might aid recovery better than intense workouts.
3๏ธโฃ The "Open Window" Theory:
๐ Intense training in athletes can briefly suppress the immune system, affecting susceptibility to infections.
4๏ธโฃ Importance of Rest:
๐ Returning too soon can lead to relapses, extended recovery times, and potential health risks.
5๏ธโฃ Gradual Return to Training:
๐ Wait until fully recovered before resuming.
๐ Start with lighter sessions and gradually progress back to your routine.
6๏ธโฃ Self-care is Key:
๐ Prioritize nutrition, hydration, and ample rest.
๐ Don't forget - a break won't nullify months of hard work!
My latest blog article provides a comprehensive guide to know when it's safe and beneficial to workout again after the flu. Remember, your health is the priority! ๐๐ช
