GA4 countdown has begun, only a few weeks to go...
Universal Analytics is set to reach end of life as of the 1st July 2023, meaning if you have not swapped over to the latest GA4 property yet, you could be losing historical analytic data as well as having the opportunity to get used to GA4.
While you will still have access to your Universal Analytics data for 6 months after the 1st July 2023 deadline, you will need to export and import this data into GA4 so that you can use it in your planning & analysis. Note only the following data types can be imported: User data, Cost data, Product/item data. Campaign data, Content data and Custom data cannot be imported.
Google is offering a free automatic setup for GA4 but this may not reflect your business requirements for tracking and the data you want to collect, so we would advise you to reach out to your Account Manager, and / or your SEO agency to get GA4 setup.
Below is a checklist to make sure you're up-to-date:
• Install and configure GA4 account.
• Work with your eCommerce agency/seo agency to set GA4 up on your website with the correct tracking requirements.
• Familiarise yourself with the new look and feel of GA4.
• Export historical data from Universal Analytics and store securely.
