LEGACY OPEN CALL waxwork.org.uk/legacy-open-call
WAX are looking for photographs that respond to the theme Family Legacy for a new outdoor exhibition on Albert Road, Middlesbrough. Images can be in any style but they must have been inherited by you from your family and hold a special place in your memory.
〰️
The project is a way of coming together to create something positive during a time of separation and uncertainty. It is a celebration of the power and importance of photography and explores the links between memory and the medium.
〰️
The finished artwork will act as a starting point for storytelling/sharing opportunities. As work will be exhibited on Albert Road, WAX are very interested in photographs depicting some connection to the area.
〰️
Deadline 22nd of November

Cosmic Debris is a visual response to ‘throw away’ society. Presented as a series of photograms, created using discarded objects found by the banks of the River Tees.

The work depicts a surreal world born from the detritus and debris of the 21st century and represents a journey along the Tees through the creative minds of the artists. 〰️ “The Auxiliary are delighted to announce the official opening of their new project - The Warehouse, Middlesbrough. Spread across 10,000 sq ft and housing two galleries, studios, workshops and a tool library, this newest addition to the Tees Valley arts scene invites, champions and showcases both local and international artists through exciting, contemporary programming.

Kicking off on May 24th The Warehouse presents two exhibitions of regional talent. The Main Gallery presents Marked Transitions and features artists working on the fringes of drawing and mark-making practices. Through installations, video & drawings, it showcases recent works by Lesley Hicks, who presents her Icelandic inspired drawings; Emma Bennett, influenced by local post-war architecture and producing her largest wall drawing to date; and new work by Nick Kennedy.
