Bumper-packed Children’s Festival returns
The town’s popular Children’s Festival is returning this month with over 30 activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Organised by family support charity Purple Elephant, the festival on Sunday 19th July will focus on families taking part together, welcoming the whole town and surrounding villages from 10am to 2pm.
As many as 3,000 people are expected to take part in activities, including building dens in the Welshmill Woods, bushcraft, whittling and nature activities. Other outdoor action in the park includes joining in the adventure play area, having your face painted, plus decorating and eating biscuits, as well as a visit from Jellyfish Theatre with their show ‘The Dragon Wagon.’

Frome Wild Bunch Column: Summer time!
Hi – it’s Jane here, from the Wild Bunch.
As we enter July and the height of summer, it’s a great time to spend a few moments sitting back in your garden or local green space and just enjoying what the summer has brought.
If you were able to take some small steps towards supporting our wildlife over the spring, now they – and you – will reap the benefits. Flowers for pollinators planted earlier in the year should be in full bloom, full of insects buzzing and birds feasting. Bird boxes may have hosted one or even two broods of blue t**s or robins, or tree bumblebees may have taken up residence.
If you have been able to establish a little wild area of long grass, perhaps by following ‘No Mow May’, you may be rewarded with new wildflowers – as I was when a Pyramidal Orchid appeared in my garden for the first time. What a summer delight!
