A large study has been published looking at real world data for older patients. It shows how first-line immunotherapy combinations are used for older patients with metastatic kidney cancer in the real world.

Older patients are often underrepresent in clinical trials. However, this study assessed 630 older patients, and gave a more accurate picture of how immunotherapy combinations are used outside clinical trials.

Could timing be key when restarting immunotherapy for advanced kidney cancer?

A large real-world study found that immunotherapy rechallenge is uncommon — used in just 4.3% of patients with metastatic clear cell kidney cancer.

But for some patients, waiting longer before restarting treatment may matter. Those who had a break of 6 months or more appeared to have better outcomes than those who restarted sooner.

The takeaway: immunotherapy rechallenge may help selected patients — but timing could be critical.

More research is needed to confirm who benefits most and when to restart.

We are delighted that NHS Gloucestershire Urology raised awareness of kidney cancer today as part of IKCC

They had a display in their outpatient department; staff wore green and they the chance to educate our staff on what we offer. We also shared the emotional wellness questionnaire.
In line with the theme, we also had local and national charity information to support patients with their wellbeing.
