We can now reveal the venues and dates for our Regional Connect Week 31st August - 4th September, when we are hitting the East Midlands to connect veterans through fun, uplifting community events in Northamptonshire, Loughborough, Nottingham, Lincoln and Derbyshire.

Spitfire and Swing - Celebrating 90 years of the Spitfire 🛩️🕺

To celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the iconic Spitfire, The Not Forgotten is hosting a very special event at Danny House in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, on Sunday 2nd August 1-4pm.

By kind permission of the estate’s owner Richard Burrows, we will be bringing some of the sights and sounds of the 1930s and 40s to the beautiful lawns of Danny House, along with a full-size replica of a Spitfire, marking the 90 years since the iconic aeroplane made its first flight in 1936 ahead of its heroic service in World War Two.

With live entertainment from the UK’s top swing band The Jive Aces Aces, vintage 1940s duo The Swingtime Sweethearts, military vehicles and re-enactment displays, and the chance to meet and chat to veterans including those who served in the Second World War.

Plus food and drink stalls including Veterans Gin and the famous Beigel Bar Brick Lane.

🎨🫟😃Style a Smile – Children’s Art Competition 🎨🫟😃

To mark Armed Forces Day we are proud to announce our ‘Style a Smile for a Veteran’ art competition for children, running from now until the end of November to raise money and awareness for our ’28 For 28’ campaign.

Know any children who might like to take part? All you need to do is request a colouring sheet (we have two different styles of veteran to choose from), then get the kids to draw, colour and decorate their sheet to represent a veteran.

It might be a veteran they know – Mum, Dad, Gran or Grandad, friend or neighbour; or it might be their own interpretation of what a veteran might look like from films or history studies. The more creative and celebratory the better!

The competition is open to children up to age 12 and will be judged in two categories – up to age 7, and 7-12 year olds. The judges (a panel of experienced veteran artists) will judge all entries on technical skill, creativity and interpretation of the theme, with a £100 gift card for each age group winner.

The entry fee is just £2.80, plus £1.55 postage, with all proceeds going to the 28 For 28 Challenge total.
