Half Marathon 90!!! It was a beautiful SoCal day with 60ish degree temps, a little marine layer to start & sun to finish with some beautiful ocean views. The race organization I have lots of thoughts about but I’ll get to those later. My own personal race went relatively well, just some very minor twinges in my hamstring/glutes and a finish time that was right around the time I was expecting. Overall a great day to be out running!

Thank you to all the volunteers & the countdown to 100 halfs is on!!

My running journey has changed a lot in the time since the pandemic. My body has changed too, perimenopause is not fun…and running unfortunately puts a lot of stress on my body.

That being said while I’ve somewhat changed my strategy towards running & exercising in general, focusing more on strength, mobility & recovery, I still have running goals I want to achieve & races I want to run so I’m still out here getting in the miles.

This past weekend was my first double digit run, 10.15 miles + plus an extra mile or so walking, since my last marathon in late October.

I have no time goals, I’m run+walking as usual & my only goal is to finish my 90th! half in a few weeks as close to pain free as possible, while enjoying the beautiful weather we are having.

This year’s race schedule includes 3 half’s & 1 marathon.

What’s on your race schedule this year?

What a year! Less travel than some years but we had a lot of firsts in 2025.

We got to meet instructors at the London Marathon Shakeout run which was sooooo fun!

I ran the LONDON MARATHON!!!! 🥳

We visited Scotland, my first time there & got to play the old course at St Andrew’s. Then we headed to Ireland!

Maui in July for Sean’s family reunion with a side trip to Hana to stay at the cabins in Waiʻānapanapa State Park.

Celebrated our 10th anniversary doing all the things we did on our first day & wedding weekend. Running the San Francisco 1st half marathon & going to a Giants game.

Headed to Seattle for my cousins wedding & visited Olympic National Park which was beautiful!

Vegas for the marathon & a nice visit to Crossroads Kitchen!

Here’s to more adventures in 2026!

It was a beautiful day for a marathon. Warm but not super hot, although I had a layer of salt all over my body when I finished.

It’s been a few years since we ran Mount Charleston but it was just like I remembered except the last few miles. I had no goals for this race other than finish. It wasn’t a great training cycle and I’ve been dealing with major sciatica issues since London. Interestingly, that was one of the few things I did not encounter during the race. I guess that was a benefit of going downhill.

I’m looking forward to a nice long break with no races on the calendar until next June. It’s time fix this sciatica & strengthen my weak areas.

Marathon 36 & guaranteed 2026 entry to (via the Strava virtual) at the which was pretty much a similar course to Revel Mt Charleston. It’s a beautiful day for a very long run & I’m happy it’s done & no more marathons until next fall! Happy Sunday friends!
