Feature post by Sam about Open League in Athens:

This weekend i travelled to Athens, to the olympic aquatic centre no less, to play Underwater Rugby in the second of 2 rounds of an open league that sees teams from around the globe compete with a final result - a combination of both tournaments.

The pool was larger than most at 21m long 10 m wide and 5 m deep which suited our teams game style. I played with Kingfishers - and amalgamation of players from Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Hungary and I the only player from the UK.

There was a range of experience in the team however we gelled very well immediately with some fantastic gameplay coming from the commitment to support each other when required and trust to do their own jobs within the team. We played 4 games over the 2 days, each one 2x11minute halves with the intensity of opponents increasing as the competition progressed - illustrated by the scoreline.

Kingfishers - Firenze 11:0
Kingfishers - Milan 5:0
Kingfishers - Fysalis (Athens) 3:0
Kingfishers - Osos (Madrid) 2:0

This was the first time I have played a tournament with any of these players and exciting for me was i was the second leading goal scorer on our team. With 4 goals to my name.
