Japan Language Factory
Native Japanese children don't learn to read before they speak. Neither should you. πΆ
Terumi Kai points to the most natural model there is β how children actually acquire language. Through interaction with parents, grandparents, and the people around them, speaking comes first. Reading and writing come later. If your goal is to speak Japanese, you don't need to wait for literacy to get there.
Speak first. Everything else follows.

One sentence, upgraded from app-level to native-level. Here's how. π³
Terumi Kai shows the transformation: "Nihon shoku no nakade mo okonomiyaki ga ichiban suki desu" β among Japanese food, I like okonomiyaki best. It sounds simple, but it's the difference between a textbook sentence and one a native speaker would actually say. That's the method β one sentence at a time, upgraded until it sounds natural.
Small upgrades. Native results.

Looks like the same clip as before! Here's a fresh take with a different angle:
There's no such thing as "Japan meal" in Japanese. Here's the word native speakers actually use. π±
Terumi Kai walks through it: Japanese food can be Nihon shoku, Nihon no shokuji, or Nihon no tabemono β but the more elegant, correct term is Washoku. Swap that one phrase, and a sentence like "Among Japanese food, I like okonomiyaki best" becomes natural: "Nihon shoku no nakade mo okonomiyaki ga suki desu."
Small correction. Native-level sentence.
