Spent the end of last year in the midst of an identity crisis 😂 with trying to capitalise on Christmas came an obsession with sales, online engagement and presence, and how much better everyone else was doing! All felt icky and made me v anxious. This was coupled with struggling at how my own interests align with the brand of Mr P.
Taking it over from my brother along with his and my mums ideas and the beautiful creations they had made in collaboration with different makers, meant it already had its own brand identity. I’ve felt a bit lost running along with it whilst trying to put my own stamp on things. It all became a bit of a chaotic mish mash on here and in my head.
So I just wanted to share my side account, originally called Miss Portobello, but now renamed - somewhere I can showcase things I’ve made as well as explore my love for the old - vintage fabrics/photographs/tiles & interiors/furniture/second hand clothes/fashions & crafts of the past, without it spilling all over here and detracting from the essence of Mr P ❤️ as everything felt a bit confusing!
If you’d like to follow along please do, am currently bursting with ideas of bits I’d like to make, and hopefully they’ll be good enough lol to bring along to all the fairs and festivals Mr Portobello will be doing this year! # #

Ahhhh I jut love these!! A velvet alternative to the sweetheart waistcoats that I had on the stall in the summer 🩷 In navy, fuchsia and green with hand embroidered heart motifs, and a waist clinching buckle and straps at the back. And the cutest matching velvet buttons! 🩷

Felt poignant that the last event of the year for Mr P was a makers market today ❤️ Especially after the RELENTLESS tirade of Black Friday that we all get subject to - its properly had me thinking over the past few weeks. V inspiring to be around people who create things from scratch, those who use recycled materials, some have no waste, some use old methods and skills honed over the years - it’s a direction that feels more authentic to my own outlook on the production and consumption of clothes and homeware. Vintage and second hand has always made my world go round, and when we do make new then we should only be creating investment pieces made to be worn/used again and again. Lots to think about for 2026 and potential new paths this little brand can take!! ❤️❤️
