Postmodern pioneer Robert Venturi once challenged Mies van der Rohe’s statement ‘less is more’ which epitomised the modernist movement in one single phrase, with ‘less is a bore’.

Challenging the principles of the movement with experimentation and wit, Venturi’s ‘less is a bore’ became the mantra for Postmodernism, a movement of warmer architecture centred around character and humour.

American architect Robert Venturi was born on this day in 1925.

Diamonds, but make it dental 💎

A closer look at NIGO’s most distinctive custom jewellery piece - diamond veneers. Created in 2017, this set of veneers emerged during a period when NIGO’s design aesthetic and creative collaborations were closely connected to the hip-hop community.

Unlike grillz, which can be removed, veneers are a more permanent form of dental jewellery, bonded directly to the teeth.

Bejewelled veneers were popularised by Black American rap artists in the 1990s, where they became a symbol of status, identity and self-expression.

See them up close in our NIGO: From Japan with Love, until 4 October 2026. Head to the link to book your visit: https://bit.ly/4v0cryy
