More wonderful moments during the first week in Bayreuth of the Liszt International Piano Competition included the special pilgrimage to the grave of the Master with Leslie Howard and Vivian Li and the superb recital by Martin Helmschen in the fairytale Opernhaus Bayreuth. Evenings of wining and dining with distinguished Jury member colleagues Michel Dalberto, Leslie Howard, Vivian Li, Misha Lifits and Boris Petruchansky. The impressive visits to the Steingraeber Piano showrooms and indeed the splendour of their Kammermusiksaal where the first stages of the competition were held……………..🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 All this pleasure before the shocking accident that has now landed me in hospital and ended my involvement with the next stage of the competition! Yes, falling down a flight of stairs is no joke and I am now nursing cracked ribs, a brain bleed and torn knee ligaments!!! Wonderful care has hastened my recovery and apart from some serious bruising I am feeling fine, thank goodness!!! The painful news is that I’m not allowed to fly for a couple weeks due to the brain bleed but the alternative Eurostar option is to be enormously grateful for!!! So I am full of humility and gratitude to look at the happening of three days ago and thank the almighty, with all my heart, for his protection!! ❤️❤️❤️

Congratulations to LMC Alumnus pianist Joanna Kacperek on winning the Jean Meikle Duo Prize in the 2024 Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition, together with soprano Clara Berbier Serrano.
