ASME Turbo Expo 2026 starts today - Team SCS is on the ground in Milan!
If you're attending this week, come and connect with the team at Booth D61 to see how high-resolution thermal mapping is helping drive turbine engine efficiencies!
Meet the team:
🔹 Dr Jörg Feist - Managing Director
🔹 Logan Whalen - Industrial Lead
🔹 Joseph Counte - R&D Materials Engineer
🔹 Carl Parsons - Robotics Engineer
SCS will be presenting across the week, including technical papers on thermal history coatings, continuum robotics for surface temperature measurement, and turbine thermal mapping applications.
Whether you're interested in turbine component testing, thermal measurement, coatings, or robotics-enabled inspection, we'd love to talk.
👉 Stop by Booth D61 and say hello.

From Award-Winning Research to ASME Turbo Expo 2026
Last year, SCS Materials engineer Joseph Counte was awarded 1st Place in the ASME Turbo Expo Student Poster Competition for his work on quantifying uncertainty in emission spectroscopy for thermal history sensing.
That award-winning research has since been developed further and now forms the foundation of SCS's latest ASME Turbo Expo technical paper:
"On the Uncertainty of Luminescent Spectra Calibration of Thermal History Coatings at High Temperatures" (GT2026-177344).
The paper builds on Joseph's original work, advancing the understanding of photoluminescent Thermal History Coatings (THCs) used for post-operation thermal mapping in extreme gas turbine environments. It establishes a quantified uncertainty framework and identifies optimised spectral parameters, helping to improve the reliability and accuracy of temperature measurements in high-temperature applications.

Advancing High-Temperature Thermal Measurement at ASME Turbo Expo 2026
“Towards On-Engine Surface Temperature Measurements Using Continuum Robots and Thermal History Coatings” (GT2026-178089) is being presented at the conference.
The approach combines continuum robotics with thermal history coatings to deliver precise, high-resolution temperature mapping - without engine disassembly. A smarter way to boost performance, efficiency, and reliability in demanding environments.
