First Step Trust

We are looking for an Employment Development Worker, with opportunities available in Woolwich and Lambeth in London.

This role is focused on supporting adults facing mental health difficulties and other barriers to work, helping them build confidence, access training and work placements, and move towards employment or further training.

You will be working with workforce members, referral agencies, local employers and our wider team to support people's development, including help with job search, CVs, interview preparation and progression.

If you have experience in employment support, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in helping people move forward, we'd love to hear from you.

📍 Woolwich - 24 hours per week, £35,000 pro rata
📍 Lambeth - 16 hours per week, £35,000 pro rata

Recently, we welcomed Miu and Kelley, Occupational Therapists from Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, to First Step Trust for our Trading Places event.

During their time with us, Miu and Kelley learned more about our placement opportunities in admin support and motor mechanics. They also got hands-on in our garage, working alongside our workforce members and seeing first-hand what practical learning can look like in a real workshop environment.

We recently joined GLLaB, UnityWorks and other organisations at a Supported Employment event during the Learning Disability Week.

We had the opportunity to present how First Step Trust supports people through practical courses, work placements and routes towards employment.

It was especially valuable to hear directly from people who use local support services, including those who gave their own presentations and shared how far they have come since receiving support.
