Ahead of the 2026 Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Population Ageing in Hangzhou, China, HelpAge network members who attended the previous conference in Bali, Indonesia, in 2024 are sharing their reflections and key takeaways.
Today, Ms Oranuch Lerdkulladilok reflects on the importance of intergenerational approaches in building age-friendly societies. A key theme of the Asia-Pacific Conference, intergenerational solidarity highlights why younger generations must be actively involved in conversations about population ageing.
Ms Lerdkulladilok is Chairperson of the Help Without Frontiers Thailand Foundation and leads the forOldy project, an award-winning initiative that supports older people by repurposing medical assistive devices for low-income communities across Thailand.
Registrations for the Conference are open until 15 July: https://ow.ly/rcvL50Zk0zS

When disaster strikes, local organisations are first to respond. But do they have the systems and skills to lead effectively?
SHAPE – Strategic Humanitarian Assessment and Participatory Empowerment – helps answer this question.
It strengthens local organisations so they can act fast, include everyone, and deliver better results.
Older people and at-risk groups are part of the planning and response. The goal is faster, more inclusive humanitarian response where older voices are heard and respected.
