Have another external disk drive on the bench to repair. Customer is desperate to get their data off the disk. The drive won't spin up becuase the motor drive chip has blown. Thermal imaging shows the heat spot.

The problem is can't buy the chip, so no issue a replacement board on its way from China. Once it arrives then I can swap the ROM chip form the old board to the new board.
