After 17 years of exile, Tarique Rahman returns to Bangladesh, and becomes democratically elected the first male Prime Minister of a Muslim-majority country after 35 years!

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, after 8 PM via a Biman Bangladesh flight to MAG Osmani International Airport. He went straight to Hazrat Shahjalal’s (RA) sacred shrine for ziyarat.

Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia is likely to be taken to London for advanced medical treatment after midnight tonight or at dawn on Friday, if all preparations proceed as planned.

I express my deep sorrow and strong anger at the brutal genocide that is taking place across Sudan. I call on the international community, the United Nations, and world human rights organizations to immediately take effective steps to stop this genocide.
