I am Rumi - The Play

On Saturday 4th Dec. at 3pm there will be a (Live) reading of the Script (draft version) of I am Rumi - The Play

A Wall Street banker who comes from a very old - and important- family in New York who have very high expectations of their son, Miles.

Miles is stuck in a job that he hates, and is so focused on climbing the ladder to please his parents and keep up with his social circle that he forgets the spiritual side of life. He neglects his wife, and doesn't spend enough time with his sons.

One day he is mugged whilst standing at an ATM machine and is struck to the head where he falls down. He is helped by a refugee Iraqi taxi driver who helps him by taking him to the Sufi centre across the road to calm him down and help him to remember where he needs to be.

When the doctor asks what his name is, Miles wakes up and answers "I am Rumi".

The story is a spiritual journey where he discovers himself again, but only by forgetting who he is supposed to, can he become who he could potentially be.
