Melodic Distraction
24/09/2023
Wide-eyed, poorly timed’, the debut EP by Liverpool-based Norwegian artist Maria Olsen is a deeply accomplished work. Atmospheric, intensely personal, warm and precise. From its cleanly complex production to the intimate lyrics, this EP radiates a golden glow that will emboss itself within each and every listener.
Make sure to check out Where Are The Girlbands article on the Melodic Distraction website as they review Maria Olsens debut EP!

✨ It’s Staff Picks time! ✨
There’s been loads of boss radio in September so far, so let’s take a deep dive into the team’s favourites…
On the first of the month, our very own Josh Aitman had the incredibly talented Ni Maxine on Moving Through Music for some thought-provoking chat and tunes.
James Forrester graced the airwaves once again with his new series Shred It!, focusing on the incredible sounds of instrumental artists.
Amber Rose returned from Notting Hill Carnival with bucketloads of afrobeat, dancehall, bass, garage and energyyy!
Rolling through to Thursday, we had sick shows from Talking Drums, Q-Dom and Baltic 170, collectively spinning everything from balearic and disco to hyperpop and jungle.
Tuesday provided heaps of empowering black q***r anthems and insightful chat from Kolade, as Noire Gayze returns to MDR – and it was a bittersweet farewell from Brad Stank and Liam on their final Love On The Line show before Brad moves down to the Big Smoke 🥺
On Memory Control, James Binary was joined by good friend and musical maestro Dialect for some guest selections and friendly chat, followed by a throwback to Jacinta's banging Baltic Weekender set on Thursday The New Friday 💪
Finally, yesterday showed us two incredible shows with female DJs at the helm – DAIZ spun allll the rollers with her Sun & Bass Festival special of Fri-Daiz, and this month Queensway rang in their 10th show with Isabelle Mettle, a singer-songwriter and producer who spun house, funky remixes and speed garage.
