On Saturday we hosted our Halewood Proud Creators’ Day! This was an unforgettable event which saw more than 5,000 colleagues and their loved ones celebrate a milestone anniversary for JLR Halewood, as 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the manufacturing plant.

There were lots of smiles and children laughing as we came together in unity - as one extended Halewood family - to enjoy all the amazing activities on offer. This included technology tours, live entertainment, a line-up of past and present car models, mascots, fairground refreshments and much, much more.

Not all superheroes wear capes… something which could be said about JLR Halewood’s Business Protection (BP) team.

A few weeks ago, Jack Curran, Colin Weaver, Marco Grindley and David Reynold – who all work for BP - helped save the life of an employee who collapsed at work and suffered a cardiac arrest.

When the team got to the scene, the employee was receiving CPR from their teammates. Using a defibrillator, Jack and Colin were able to bring the employee’s heartbeat back to a stable rhythm again.

In a true unified team effort, David worked with NHS Response to get a doctor on to the site and within 18 minutes, an air ambulance helicopter landed in one of our car parks.

BP Supervisor, Mike Madigan, said: “I’m so proud of the team. The chances of surviving after receiving three shocks from a defibrillator drops to 1 in 20. This patient had five, so the fact that they were able to bring them back to consciousness, is nothing short of a miracle. We are all so glad to hear that the employee is doing well and wish them a speedy recovery.”

As it’s Valentine’s Day, we are feeling the love today and wanted to share some incredible news with you…. Jaguar Land Rover will be donating a brand-new Discovery Sport to local charity, the Inclusive Hub, which has been chosen as our Halewood Motorvate charity car winner.

Motorvate is an employee programme which rewards good attendance. If Jaguar Land Rover hits its attendance targets each quarter, Motorvate benefits are triggered, and all employees can apply for funding or a car for a charity or local organisation which is close to their hearts.

Based in Kirkdale, the Inclusive Hub aims to empower people of all ages and abilities through education and exercise.

Liam Starkey (pictured on the right) coach and director at the Inclusive Hub, said: “The donation of this car is life-changing for us as it will allow us to us to extend our provision and introduce new people to what we do. For instance, there are people that can’t get to us because their parents or carers don’t drive, or they may work during the week and so can only bring them at the weekends. That will all change now – because of the car from Halewood.”

Liam added: “We also have a women’s group at the hub that does a lot of community outreach work with schools, teaching them about the traits of autism. It will open up so many doors for us and we want to thank everyone at Jaguar Land Rover Halewood for this generous donation.”

Danny Murray (pictured on the left) who works in Body Construction and nominated the Inclusive Hub for the Motorvate charity car draw, said: “I’ve known Liam since school but wasn’t aware of the hub until a mutual friend of ours told me about it, as I myself was keen to look for ways to integrate my own children into sport.

“My eldest child has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and my middle child has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and I have noticed such a huge difference since they started going to the hub.

“They are so much more outgoing and confident through learning to do boxing and sports there. It’s also been brilliant for us as a family, as it’s given us all a routine every Saturday and Sunday and we also get to talk to other parents who are in a similar position to us.”
Danny added: “I couldn’t think of a more deserving charity than the Inclusive Hub and it makes me proud that through programmes like Motorvate, we can have such a positive impact on our local communities.” The Inclusive Hub
