Gibson Lane Practice
Thank You for Supporting Our New Assessment Hub!
We would like to say a huge thank you to the hundreds of patients who are now using PATCHS to request GP appointments since we launched our new Assessment Hub on 27th April 2026.
Changing the way patients access appointments was a significant change for everyone, and we are incredibly grateful for your patience and support as we've introduced this new way of working.
We're already seeing some really positive benefits:
✅ The 8am rush has gone – there is no longer a race to contact us first thing in the morning.
✅ Patients with urgent clinical needs are able to access same-day appointments much later into the day because appointments are no longer filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
✅ It no longer matters what time you submit your request during the day. Every GP appointment request is assessed fairly and prioritised according to clinical need, not the time it was received.
✅ Patients are more often being directed to the right clinician, first time, meaning they receive the most appropriate care without unnecessary delays.
We can still help if you can't complete a PATCHS request.
We know that online services aren't suitable for everyone, and we want to reassure patients that we are still very happy to help.
If you are unable to complete a PATCHS request yourself because you're not confident using technology, don't have internet access, or you're simply feeling too unwell, please give us a call. A member of our reception team will complete the request with you over the phone.
Please help us keep our phone lines available.
Although our overall call volumes have reduced by around 20%, our reception team are now spending much longer on each call helping patients complete PATCHS requests over the phone.
If you are able to submit a PATCHS request yourself, please do so wherever possible. By doing this, you're helping to keep our phone lines free for patients who genuinely need additional support or are unable to access the online system independently.
Need help using PATCHS?
If you're unsure how to use PATCHS, we're here to help.
We're running digital support sessions across all of our sites to help patients learn how to use the system with confidence. We also have step-by-step paper guides available from all of our reception desks.
Thank you once again for your continued support as we improve access to our services. By working together, we're helping to ensure patients receive the right care, from the right person, at the right time.
Gibson Lane Practice will be closed on Tuesday 16th June from 12 noon for staff training. If you require urgent medical assistance during the times we are closed, please call the normal surgery telephone number 0113 2870870 and you will be put through to the emergency GP Service or call 111.
