Ghost Of The Machine

BAND NEWS – an update from Charlie:
“Hi everyone,
It’s with tremendous sadness that I’ve stepped away from Ghost of the Machine.
This is not the outcome I wanted, nor a decision taken lightly. As you know, I’ve been out of action with a jaw injury for a while now and, unfortunately, the level of recovery required to resume singing duties has not been forthcoming.
My wonderful bandmates have been very supportive and patient when it came to the gig cancellations and my inability to contribute at rehearsals on account of my stupid face, but while I’ve desperately wanted to get back into the action, I’m acutely aware that my condition is something that I’m going to have to manage for the long haul. While my focus has been on getting more comfortable day-to-day, such is the damage around the joint that I have been advised to temper my expectations about what a “full” recovery means for me.
With that in mind, I do know that this is the best decision for both me, taking off the pressure I was putting on myself to heal up (I can safely say that that doesn’t work), and the band, who will now be able to move forward with purpose and clarity. It’s been extremely exciting hearing the ideas take shape for the third album, but, deep down, I think I knew a while ago that I wouldn’t be able to be the one to sing those songs.
I’m immensely proud of what we’ve created together in the last five years. This band has exceeded my wildest dreams in what it’s been able to achieve, but the best part of it for me has always been the people. I was already a fan of my bandmates before they invited me to join Ghost of the Machine, and now we’re a bunch of great mates with whom I’ve been privileged to make two monstrous albums. I’ll be rooting for the guys as they forge forward with the next one.
An absurd number of collaborations with musicians and bands across the scene has been another thing I’ve relished (at the risk of becoming a ubiquitous annoyance), and I’m grateful to have been asked to take part in each of those projects. Each one has presented me with the opportunity to express myself in new ways, to learn and grow as a performer, and to share the music with even more people. I had been so looking forward to tackling the vocals for the new and very ambitious Nine Skies studio album, another band dearly close to my heart, but sadly it wasn’t to be. Luckily, they’re not short of talent to call upon and I can’t wait to hear the end results.
And then there’s you, the fans. I never imagined for a second how much the prog community would embrace us, but the warmth and enthusiasm has been palpable at each and every show we’ve played up and down the country, as well as in all the community groups and radio chatrooms online. Prog fans are nothing if not passionate about the bands you like! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and kindness you’ve shown to us, and to me personally – it’s been thrilling and humbling.
None of us can say what the future holds, but you’ll certainly be seeing me around. I adore our proggy community very much and look forward to continuing to enjoy it as a fan for now 😊
With all of my love
Charlie”
Many of you have been asking us whether we'd be recruiting a new guitarist since Scotty Sixstring stepped away from the band last October. We've now come to a decision.
Tomorrow, your questions will finally be answered...

It heralded the biggest year for the band yet, and we're very pleased and grateful for how the album was received by the prog community. It is something very special to see Empires Must Fall feature in so many end of year lists and polls. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way; you've all been amazing 🥰
We look forward to seeing you on the road in 2026.
