Stoic Rule #7: Remember Death (Memento Mori).
Contemplating our mortality is not morbid but a powerful tool for living fully. It reminds us of the preciousness and finite nature of time. This awareness helps us prioritize what truly matters and avoid wasting our lives on trivialities. Live each day as if it were your last.
Do this for the next 7 days: Take a moment to reflect on your own mortality and consider how it influences your priorities. Have you lived your day well?

This Being Human Is A Guest House 25/05/2025

This talk is a departure from my usual track content. It’s a poem. Its still a chocolate chunk of wisdom, but not from NLP or Stoicism. I only came across it a few years ago and it has had a profound affect in me. It seems to encapsulate all that I have learned during my years of practicing NLP and Stoicism, succinctly and beautifully wrapped in a short poem.
Often cited in mindfulness circles, the poem I am sharing with you is called 'The Guest House'. Written by the 13th century Persian poet Mawlana Jalaludin Rumi, it is a reminder for us to not resist the thoughts and emotions that are passing through us, but to meet them with courage, warmth, and respect.
In the poem, Rumi explores what life would be like for a guest house if it was a living human being, and how a guest house welcomes every one that comes to its door.
It is about welcoming all positive and negative emotions as they come into our lives. And it encourages us to treat every feeling like a guest, accepting each one gracefully with understanding because they all have something to teach us.

This Being Human Is A Guest House When Jacci came across this poem it had a profound affect on the way she deals with all of her emotions, and therefore looks to share that wisdom in this track. Rather than avoiding some emotions, the poem encourages us to accept them all as a valid experience that offers the opportunities of learni...
