Learn to Cycle – Building Confidence, One Ride at a Time!

What an amazing session we had at our recent Learn to Cycle event! It was inspiring to see participants support one another, build confidence, and take important steps towards gaining a life skill that opens up new opportunities for health, independence, and mobility.

From first-time riders to those rediscovering their balance, the atmosphere was full of encouragement, determination, and progress. A special shout-out to everyone who took part—you made it truly special!

We’re excited to continue supporting more people on their cycling journey and sharing stories of success along the way. Stay tuned for more sessions and inspiring journeys from our learners!

This week is

Knife Crime Awareness Week 2026 is a powerful moment for communities to unite and take a stand for the safety of our young people. It highlights the ongoing efforts of individuals, charities, and organisations working tirelessly to prevent knife crime and protect lives. Join the movement from 18th – 24th May 2026.

At SpringAid International Development UK, we are standing with communities across Leeds to raise awareness about the devastating impact of knife crime—and more importantly, to promote solutions that save lives.

Knife crime is not just a statistic. It’s affecting real people, real families, and real futures.

Too many young people feel pressure, fear, or lack of opportunity—but carrying a knife is never the answer. It only increases the risk of harm, to yourself and to others.

We believe in:

🔹 Prevention through education
🔹 Empowering young people with positive alternatives
🔹 Supporting families and communities
🔹 Working together for lasting change

This week, we are bringing together voices from across Leeds—community leaders, youth workers, faith groups, and law enforcement—to send one united message:

Bin the knife. Save a life.

Let’s stand together. Let’s protect our young people. Let’s build safer communities.

SELF ESTEEM AND CONFIDENCE BUILDING WORKSHOP – OUR MINDS AND COMMUNITY MATTERS WORKSHOP- SOUTH LEEDS

Our recent Minds and Community Matters workshop brought young people together in a relaxed and supportive space to focus on their wellbeing. They took part in mindfulness activities, creative sessions, and open conversations, helping them to unwind, reflect, and connect with others in the community.

The session explored practical ways to manage stress, build confidence, and improve emotional wellbeing. Many participants shared how valuable it was to have a safe space where they felt heard, supported, and able to connect with others.

It was a great opportunity to bring young people together, reduce feelings of isolation, and encourage positive steps towards better mental health.

Supporting each other, building connections, and improving wellbeing—together.
