Amazing morning today. We seem to be going from strength to strength. At one point, there were 9 of us chatting away. The best bit was talking about other social events where people can meet others, including Social Suppers at Wickham Community Centre and Jolly Dollies for those ladies who sadly lost their husbands. If you ever wonder if this is for me, please join us - even if for a short while. There is always someone ready to chat.

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year?

As we head into the summer months, we often see our Chatty Café tables become a little quieter—and that’s completely normal.

Holidays, warm weather, family commitments and people spending more time outdoors can all mean fewer people pop along for a chat.

But please don’t be disheartened.

One of our wonderful volunteers recently said something that really stuck with us:

“Even if just one person comes, that’s one conversation that wouldn’t have happened otherwise.” 💛

And that’s exactly what The Chatty Café Scheme is all about.

One conversation can brighten someone’s day.
One conversation can help someone feel seen.
One conversation can remind someone they’re not alone.

So whether your table welcomes one person or twenty this summer, please know that every chat matters, every smile counts, and every conversation makes a difference.

There’s a lot more awareness around loneliness these days, and that can only be a good thing. 💛

What makes the difference, though, is turning awareness into action.

At The Chatty Café Scheme, we don’t just talk about loneliness - we action it! Every single week, all around the UK, venues and volunteers are creating welcoming spaces where people can sit down, have a conversation, make new friends and feel part of their community.

No appointments.
No referrals.
No forms to fill in.

Just people talking to people.

Thousands of conversations take place at our Chatty Tables every week, helping people who may be feeling lonely, isolated, new to an area, working from home, retired, bereaved, or simply in need of some company.

Awareness is important.

But real impact happens when there is a chair waiting, a friendly face to welcome you, and a conversation ready to begin.
