Some images from a workshop which I recently conducted at This gallery and real hub for the arts in Ullapool is one of my favourite places to visit and to run workshops. I loved the exhibition currently running, ‘The Music of Home’ by George Macpherson RSA and ‘Tim’ by Mairearad Green. The workshop was a wonderful little hub of creativity with a group of fantastic women who created a lovely dynamic from which all created some beautiful work full of experimentation and freedom to play with all kinds of contrasting fibres. I conduct different textiles based workshops around the country. It is a great experience to watch a group of like-minded creatives working together and generating a creative energy. I like to take care to provide only the springboard, allowing people to find their own voice in the work. Recently, I went to the stunning Newcastle University Hatton Gallery where the NCU Fine Art students are based. What a perfect location for the students. Some of the students who have a particular interest in fibre and textiles have organised themselves into an incredibly proactive and dynamic group called . I was truly blown away by their ability to really push the capabilities of a material or technique and to look at it from differing angles. To freely experiment with contrasting media and push boundaries. I loved working with this group and I see stars of the future. Thankyou NU Textiles Forum for inviting me.
