This gentle 2.5-mile circular walk takes us along meandering paths weaving through dense woodland, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the peace and quiet beneath the trees. As the route opens up, we'll be rewarded with panoramic views across Brockholes, Honley and beyond, while the occasional glimpse of Castle Hill peeking above the canopy reminds us we're never too far from home.

It's a lovely mix of shady woodland and far-reaching scenery, making for a relaxed summer evening of fresh air, good company and easy conversation.

To round things off, we'll head to The Golden C**k for a well-earned drink and a chance to continue the chat.

As ever, a gentle reminder that walking in our beautiful patch can mean uneven ground, tree roots, muddy sections and the odd slippery bit, so please make sure you're happy with the terrain and your own fitness before joining us.

No booking, no pressure β€” just turn up, Walk & Talk, and Ramble On!

Man Alive on Target!

Did you know that English longbowmen fired up to 12 arrows a minute at the Battle of Agincourt, with an estimated total of up to a million arrows dropping on the French forces!

Man Alive archers took it a little more steadily on Tuesday, as they got to grips with a modern recurve bow in a two-hour taster session with the Valley Bowmen of Huddersfield.

The organisation & facilities at the club are fantastic and we had a great evening with knowledgable & friendly instructors. Many thanks to Les and his team.

Congratulations to Allan Siddall for winning the Shrinking Target Competition. Great bowmanship!

Join us for a journey through some of the Holme Valley’s most evocatively named landscapes. At over 1,000 feet above sea level, much of this circular walk feels closer to the heavens than the countryside below as we travel from Elysium to Hades β€” and back again.

Our route winds along forestry tracks through a landscape of contrasts, moving between light and shadow as we pass derelict hill farms, silent conifer plantations, and dense ranks of trees standing like upright sardines. Along the way we'll encounter the distinctive, Italy-shaped Holme Styes Reservoir and enjoy sweeping views across to Castle Hill and the rolling landscape of Hade Edge below.

Expect dramatic scenery, hidden corners of the valley, plenty of fresh air, and great conversation as we explore this fascinating upland route together.

⚠️ Please note β€” this walk includes uneven ground, forestry tracks, and some climbs. Suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are strongly recommended.

No booking, no pressure β€” just turn up, Walk & Talk, and Ramble On! πŸ₯Ύ
