Dear Sensei's, Students and Parents of England Wado-Kai. Please see below our poster for this year's Lyme Regis Course. Earlier this year we ran a survey online asking you all for feedback and from this information we have put together a new structure to our Lyme Regis Course.

Please read through as this year on Saturday it's a senior grade course for 4th Kyu (Full Purple) and above only. Then Sunday is a one day course for all students/grades with gradings as normal. We have also changed the start times to the course on both days.

A legacy crossed the sea and reshaped the martial world.
When karate reached mainland Japan in 1922, it was more than a simple journey from Okinawa — it was a cultural turning point. Born in the Ryukyu Kingdom under centuries of restriction and secrecy, karate had been forged as a practical system of self-defense, refined quietly by Okinawan masters. Gichin Funakoshi’s introduction of the art to Tokyo universities transformed it from a regional fighting method into a structured budo discipline. To be accepted, karate adapted: techniques were systematized, deeper stances and linear movements were emphasized to match Japanese martial aesthetics, and a philosophical framework was formalized. This migration didn’t dilute karate. It launched its global spread. From university clubs in the 1930s to dojos on every continent today, that moment when karate crossed the water is the reason it evolved from island heritage into world legacy.

In May 2028 we shall organise another Masters Course to celebrate Sensei Wilkinson's 60 years of WadoKai Karate and celebrate 55 Years of (Farnham Karate Club) the Honbu Dojo we shall invite other Sensei's to assist Sensei Barry Wilkinson in another Masters Course

Honbu Members are invited to make suggestions to our Honbu Dojo of who will be Invited to take Part in the Net Masters Course Please send all suggested Prominent Wado Karate Sensei's Names.
