What Happens to a Lasting Power of Attorney When Someone Dies?

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) automatically comes to an end when the person who made it dies.

From that point, the attorney no longer has the legal authority to make decisions, manage bank accounts or deal with the person's financial or personal affairs.

Responsibility for administering the estate then passes to the Executors named in the Will, or, if there is no Will, to the estate's administrators.
