I’ve worked in some extraordinary homes over the years a Norland Nanny ✨
Homes with playrooms bigger than most houses, beautiful interiors and every luxury a child could wish for. They were wonderful experiences and I feel incredibly fortunate to have seen that world.
But becoming a mum taught me something I already knew deep down. Children don’t care nearly as much about the house as we think they do. They care about the picnics, the stories before bed, the dressing up box, the muddy adventures, the pillow forts and the traditions that become memories. This house may be rented, but the childhood happening inside it is entirely ours.
The memories are ours.
The traditions are ours.
The feeling of home is ours.
And perhaps that’s the most important thing I’ve learnt after years of working in some of the most beautiful homes imaginable. A happy childhood was never about the house. It was always about what happened inside it. 🤍
We moved to Devon with a MINI convertible… which felt perfect at the time, but then we became a family of four and quickly realised we needed something a little more practical for this stage of life.
Farm shop trips, nursery runs, beach days, buggies, snacks and somehow always half a house packed into the boot meant practicality suddenly became far more important than I ever expected. Using Autotrader helped us find our Kia Sportage, and we’ve genuinely loved it for our everyday family life ever since.
Our electric loan car goes back soon, which means it’s probably time to make some changes again and find something that gives us the practicality we need as a family, whilst still feeling as fun as the MINI did when we first moved here 🤍
Safe to say we already know where we’ll be looking when it’s time for our next change of car.

I live 4hrs from London in a car, so I left immediately and drove there, partied, cried, thanked my lucky STARS and drove home all within 12hrs.
Probably the most insane event I’ve ever been invited to in my life, and frankly, I didn’t take it all in until I got home. Then, I cried a lot in realisation just how amazing that was to be a part of!
