2nd Exeter Scouts is looking for a friendly and organised volunteer to join our Trustee Board Team as 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲.
This role sits at the heart of the Group’s governance and supports the Trustees in helping the Scout Group run smoothly and plan for the future.
You do 𝐧𝐨𝐭 need previous Scouting experience, and you definitely do not need to know how to tie knots or sleep in tents!
The role is flexible and should take around one hour per week.
𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐔𝐬
2nd Exeter Scouts supports local young people through Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, helping them build confidence, friendships and skills for life.
Behind every great Scout Group is a strong Trustee Board helping with governance, finance, planning and future development, including exciting ambitions around a proposed new Scout Hut and community facility.
We are looking for someone to help keep our Trustees organised and connected.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐃𝐨?
Think of this role as the organiser and coordinator of the Trustee team.
Typical tasks include:
Helping arrange Trustee meetings
Preparing and sharing agendas
Taking notes and recording actions from meetings
Keeping Trustee records organised
Supporting communication between Trustees
Helping ensure governance actions stay on track
Assisting with administrative tasks linked to Trustee activities and projects
Supporting longer-term planning and governance where needed
This role supports the Trustee Board only and does not involve managing Scout leaders or running activities with young people.
𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞?
You could be someone who:
Likes organisation and structure
Enjoys helping teams work effectively
Is good with notes, lists and follow-up actions
Wants to give something back locally
Has experience in administration, governance, office support, project coordination or business administration
Wants experience of charity governance and Trustee work
No previous Scouting experience is required.

Around 1 hour per week
Flexible and mostly remote
Bi-monthly Trustee meetings [evenings]
