“ Liked: Tucked gently into a quiet stretch of woodland, this place felt like stepping into a slower, kinder rhythm of life. From the moment we arrived, there was a sense of calm and care that stayed with us throughout our visit. The setting is truly beautiful, surrounded by trees, birdsong, and the subtle sounds of the forest, it offered a rare feeling of being both held by nature and completely at ease. The yurt itself was wonderfully maintained: warm, clean, and thoughtfully prepared. The log fire was a particular highlight, crackling gently in the evening and filling the space with a deep, comforting warmth. As night fell, the experience became almost magical. We heard foxes calling in the distance, the soft presence of owls, and the quiet movements of the woodland coming alive after dark. It felt immersive and grounding, yet never unsettling, simply nature being nature. The hosts were exceptional. Their communication was clear, friendly, and reassuring from start to finish, and their attentiveness struck a perfect balance: always available when needed, yet allowing complete privacy and space to relax. It was obvious they care deeply about both the land and the experience they offer to guests. Sleep came easily and deeply. Wrapped in the stillness of the woods, with fresh air and the gentle afterglow of the fire, it was one of the most restful nights we’ve had in a long time. There was no rush, no noise, no distractions, just quiet, warmth, and the feeling of being exactly where you’re meant to be. This is a place for anyone seeking reconnection, with nature, with themselves, or simply with peace. Whether you’re looking to unwind, reflect, or just enjoy the beauty of a well-crafted woodland retreat, this stay offers something genuinely special. We left feeling restored, grateful, and already wishing to return.

This was a lovely surprise to see after a lovely family checked out of The woodland hideout, they had fun creating nature Mandalas and it bought me so much joy to see these as I walked through the woods…I love when our guests embrace nature and enjoy the gifts that nature brings 🥰❤️✨🌳

We’ve themed it in a woodland theme and is available to book ALL YEAR…
Lovely cosy log burning stove that heats the space beautifully and has a water heater for hot drinks on tap, cooking space on top as well as a little oven too which we have made some delicious pizzas in already!

We had a lovely season From April to October this year with our spacious Safari Tent - The Woodland Hideout - fully booked in July and August this year, we had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful people, who came from far and near…

One of our closest and furthest away guests was a family from Exmouth but her husband is a marine and flew back from the USA to start his 2 week leave by staying here with his family to celebrate his birthday for a couple of days…

We had guests from Italy, London, Germany and also Tiverton enjoying a wonderful break…

Here are some photos I’ve found in my camera roll that I’ve taken throughout the seasons this year… starting with an abundance of wild garlic from April ✨🌳

Another wonderful addition this year is this pergola- I’ve just realised I haven’t taken finnished photos but here’s some in action pics…we bought it a couple years back from someone that had it wrapped around a large tree… telling you it wasn’t easy to build the decking would be an understatement… it was like a puzzle with missing pieces and we had to keep walking away from it 😬 Also it’s just me and luke with toddler for company and the teens wernt much help 🤣 but perseverance is key!
Its been sympathetically placed here with no detriment to the woodlands with the big posts being sturdy enough to sit nicely in big mud holes dug by luke (this was hard work) but worth it to stay eco… making this a wonderful non detrimental addition like all our structures here at The Rainbow Retreat….it has canvas sides that can be put up or taken down, I prefere them down because it’s set in the heart of the woodland and you can see all around… we haven’t placed a roof on it because I like looking up at the sky but we are thinking of a clear removable roofing of some kind so watch this space for that…this is going to be a wonderful spot to gather and take in the beauty of the woodland from… I saw our beautiful resident red stag whilst sitting here and wow what a site to see 🥰

Hi lovely followers… I hope you are all well…. wow it’s been a while since I’ve been on here to post but I’m back… we have been super busy doing busy things in the woodland and honestly we’ve not stopped this year…. I will post what we’ve been up to in the following posts… here’s a picture of Alanis pointing at something impressive that me & Luke have done🤣 more to follow… 🌈🌳✨
