We all know that to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit.
But knowing how many calories to eat isn’t usually the problem.
It’s knowing how to spread them across the day.
So many women start the day with good intentions, grab a pastry with their coffee, pick at snacks, have a bigger lunch than planned... then get to 6pm and realise they’ve got 200 calories left for dinner.
That’s when the cycle starts.
You either eat the tiny meal and end up raiding the cupboards later, or you think, “I’ve already ruined it,” and write the whole day off.
If I was aiming for around 1,600 calories, this is the simple structure I’d use:
🥣 Breakfast: 400 calories
🥗 Lunch: 500 calories
🍽️ Evening meal: 500 calories
🍎 Snacks: 200 calories spread throughout the day
Is it the only way? No.
But having a rough framework like this makes it much easier to build balanced meals, stay satisfied and avoid ending the day feeling like you’ve got no calories left for dinner.
And remember, you don’t have to count calories forever. A structure like this can simply help you learn what a balanced day looks like until it becomes second nature.
