Forest Soul Designs

A few weeks ago my body reminded me of something I'd been quietly ignoring.
Sometimes we become so busy creating, making, planning and helping everyone else that we forget we're part of the equation too.
I've always believed witchcraft should fit around your life, not ask you to escape from it. The craft lives in lighting a candle while dinner is cooking. Stirring intention into your morning tea. Taking five quiet minutes to breathe beneath the trees before heading back inside.
Yet somehow I forgot to offer myself that same kindness.
A recent health scare made me stop and ask whether I'd been practising what I so often encourage others to do.
The answer was... not always.
That's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to spending a weekend in Somerset with friends at the Healing Weekend. Not because I need fixing, but because rest is a form of magic too.
As witches we often talk about honouring the seasons.
Nature doesn't bloom constantly.
The moon doesn't remain full.
The trees don't apologise when they let their leaves fall.
Everything has its season of growth and its season of restoration.
Why should we be any different?
I think many of us quietly carry the idea that if we're not constantly doing something, we're somehow falling behind. My ADHD brain certainly thinks it does!
But your craft doesn't disappear because you spend an evening reading instead of performing a ritual.
Your intuition doesn't leave because you take a walk instead of casting a spell.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply listen.
The Wheel of the Year teaches us this over and over again.
There is a time to sow.
A time to nurture.
A time to harvest.
And a time to rest.
Every handmade piece I create at Forest Soul Designs begins in exactly that way. Not rushed. Not forced. Just made with care, intention and the understanding that meaningful things take time.
Perhaps that's why I've never wanted this business to be about collecting lots of "witchy things."
I'd much rather help someone build a practice they genuinely love, even if it begins with one candle, one small altar and a few quiet moments each week.
That's real everyday witchcraft.
As we move towards the New Moon, I'm taking it as a gentle invitation to reset.
To breathe a little deeper.
To spend a little more time outside.
To remember that looking after ourselves isn't separate from our practice.
It is part of it.
If you've been needing permission to slow down lately, consider this your reminder.
The craft will still be there tomorrow. and so will the magic.
