Britannia XIV was down in Evesham this weekend for lots of big battles against the English, good food, and shenanigans. Food was gammon and frumenty soup on Friday night and beef stew on Saturday.

This weekend we were at caerlaverock castle for the Spectacular Jousting. Many shenanigans were had, Saturday dinner was a surprising success, given it was left-over-lunch soup, and Captain Grease-fire says that it's "none of yo' beeswax"

This weekend Britannia XIV invaded the Scottish Crannog Centre and I got to cook in an ancient Iron Age feasting hall, which was absolutely wonderful. Images included the daily lunch spread, the feasting hall with Connor loitering, and several animal visitors including a duck and her babies and three mice all called Frederick.

Dunfermline Bruce festival this weekend was a nice quiet one for food. Friday night we had cock-a-leekie soup, Saturday we had the standard lunch spread followed by venison and red wine stew. Images included are the food, the kitchen set up, Connor drinking coffee from a bowl, Lady Lyddie in her fancy tent, a standard pass time (board games and hot drinks), and captain grease-fire being a menace to society

First show of the season went surprisingly well despite how much I was stressing about it 😂. Images are of the lunch spread at traquair, which includes: cheese, quiche, pork pies, fruit, bread ,and of course honey butter. Also included are the beautiful new kitchen battle spoons. Tried out a new medieval recipe for dinner tonight: braised spring greens. Very simple and easy, just spinach, spring greens and butter all fried together. Had to substitute the spring greens for kale as I couldn't find any in the shops yet. Added a wee bit of crumbled cheese on top as well. Tastes delicious, definitely going to make this at shows

Second attempt at apple pancakes, these have worked much better than the first batch as the apples were cooked and mashed the night before. Added a fair bit of honey and a little cinnamon to bring out the apple flavour. BXIV borders are in for a treat today

First attempt at another medieval recipe: apple pancakes. These have worked surprisingly well and will likely be done as a new breakfast item

First attempt at making authentic "peas patties". They seem relatively easy to make so will trial them again at a show next season. Hopefully they taste nice
