Poppy has been given some new technology from her stoma nurse. Since her refashioning operation last year we have struggled with her stoma, more than most people know, so this system will hopefully help her, we are also hoping it will give a sense of independence and peace of mind.
Heylo is a wearable digital leakage notification system by Coloplast, designed to give ostomates peace of mind. It continuously tracks potential leaks underneath your baseplate and sends a discreet warning to your smartphone app before output reaches your clothes.
For most patients, leakage of a stoma is currently the biggest challenge, with 92% of people worrying about leakage, impacting both their physical and mental wellbeing.
The Heylo can be very beneficial for children, non-verbal adults, and situations involving caregivers, With a stoma many experience the urge to continuously check for leakage. We hope everyone has had a lovely Easter holiday. Pops went to the Isle of Man for a few days. She visited Peel Castle, the TT museum and a few Glen's. IOM is one of Poppys favourite places to go 🫶
