Pin The Plate
📌 Edinburgh, Scotland
Had some free time so quickly nipped to Nok’s, it’s a Thai place near Haymarket.
Already excited to go back, as I just tried the lunch deal. You get two dishes for £14.95.
Plenty of variety, friendly staff and a nice setting inside.
Would definitely recommend.

📌 Gothenburg, Sweden
Love a place with character and is one of them.
Had a good chat with the owner who randomly had a southern English accent, turns out he was an aspiring actor who’d lived in Guildford for a few years but had to move back to Sweden.
He’s now set up his own Italian, and you could tell he had a genuine passion for business and good food. Got to try some homemade Glögg and a Swedish chocolate on the house.
Incredible pasta, went with the carbonara and the the arrabiata.
Wishing all the best for this place.
📌 Sunderland, England
Had Propa in Sheepfold Stables on my to-do list for a while, finally managed a trip down.
The pie was considerably better than the football, and I’d definitely go back.
As I said, the only downside was the pie not being as hot as I’d liked, but it was fairly busy and I can imagine on a non-match day it’s no issue.
Full of flavour, proper winter meal.
📌 Gothenburg, Sweden
Cinnamon bun bigger than my head, from Cafe Husaren.
It’s a Hagabullen, which originated from the Haga district in Gothenburg, with this cafe inventing them back in the 1980s.
Definitely a must try if you visit, feels like a food bucket list.
📌 Gothenburg, Sweden
Felt like a proper pizza gaff. Fairly small, but nice and cosy. Really enjoyed the pizza and had plenty of choice.
Went with the Diavola & a mushroom truffle pizza, both high ratings.
Had a table for two available when we walked in, but pretty sure you can DM them to book.

📌 Tesco next on the list, but unfortunately they don’t do the best mince pie.
Respectable though, the ranking:
1️⃣ Morrisons
2️⃣ ASDA
3️⃣ M&S
4️⃣ Tesco
5️⃣ Sainsbury’s
6️⃣ Lidl
7️⃣ Aldi
8️⃣ Co-Op
Where next?
📌 Newcastle, England
Tried out Handsome Sandwich on Chillingham Road in Heaton, will 100% be back.
Saw a few people raving about it, I went with the Spaghett About It.
It’s homemade garlic and parmesan meatballs, feta and walnut pesto, sundried tomato marinara, dehydrated deep fried spaghetti, fresh basil and mozzarella on Northern Rye focaccia.
Rate it highly.
📌 One of the final supermarkets on my list, and I’ve found the best mince pie (so far).
As of now, the official ranking:
1️⃣ Morrisons
2️⃣ ASDA
3️⃣ M&S
4️⃣ Sainsbury’s
5️⃣ Lidl
6️⃣ Aldi
7️⃣ Co-Op
Tesco up next.
📌 Just realised I didn’t use my Nectar card, gutted.
But it’s Day 6 of finding the best supermarket mince pie and I’m at Sainsbury’s.
I do still think M&S and ASDA’s beat it, but Lidl a good equivalent.
Co-Op still the worst, Aldi just above it. Morrisons up next.
