Hearts close in on York defender

Media reports indicate that Hearts have made a seven-figure offer to York City for defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott. The 24-year-old centre-half has still to agree personal terms but the player began his career at Tottenham Hotspur and then had loan spells at Dunfermline and Dundee. This season the London-born player has made over 30 appearances for the York club and Hearts need cover as Craig Halkett is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an Achilles injury. However, defender M J Kamson-Kamara is coming to Tynecastle from Lincoln City. Meanwhile, reports also indicate that winger Islam Chesnokov is heading back to Kazakhstan.

Nursery petition to be considered

A petition has been filed in a bid to save Calderglen Early Years Centre which is being eyed for demolition. Councillors at Tuesday’s education committee meeting will consider the petition, calling on them to repair the nursery instead of allowing exploration of demolition works to go ahead.
