Summer is notoriously silly season in the newsroom, with more quirky and fun news stories and campaigns making headlines.
Here are some of the summer campaigns that have resonated with us here at Represent.
Sweaty Betty – Wear the Damn Shorts (2023)
Activewear brand, Sweaty Betty, encourages women to embrace their bodies and reject beauty standards.
Highlighting survey results that revealed 67% of women believe their body image negatively impacts their self-esteem and only 16% feel comfortable wearing shorts outside, the campaign encourages shoppers to forgo self-doubt by celebrating their bodies for what they do for us.
Recruiting influencers, celebrities and members of the public, the campaign is an empowering piece of content that reminds us all that we are so much more than our physical appearance.
Diet Coke x Kate Moss - Love What You Love (2022)
Bringing together two iconic noughties brands, Kate Moss and Diet Coke paired up in July 2022 to celebrate the chilled drink’s 40th anniversary.
The ‘Love What You Love’ campaign, which also heralded Kate’s appointment as Creative Director of the brand, saw limited edition bespoke can designs, campaign films and events.
The creative campaign celebrates the confidence, passion and timeless style Kate Moss is known for, speaking to the unapologetic, positive and bold attitude of Diet Coke drinkers. The perfect pairing for a hot summer’s day.
IKEA, Books on the Beach (2010)
In summer 2010, IKEA met its customers where they were at: the beach.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Billy Bookcase, the Swedish furniture brand placed its beloved bookshelf on the sands of Australia’s Bondi Beach with plenty of books for those who forgot their summer read.
It’s a fun and memorable campaign, which spotlighted the Billy Bookcase product and greater brand awareness for IKEA. Users were also encouraged to donate to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, tying the brand to a good cause.

Today is the first day of the Royal Highland Show, a big date in the agriculture calendar. Two years ago, after 25 years of working on the show, we finally set down the reins. But for old times' sake, we thought we'd take a look back at some of the work we were proud to be part of. We’re there today if anyone would like to catch up!
📍Back in the day (2016), we secured prime placement on the scaffolding at Picardy Place to advertise the show. The construction site certainly worked in our favour, bringing the Highland Cow to life!
🎬 Marking 175 Years in 2015 of the Royal Highland Show, we had to celebrate in style. This year, we rolled out the red carpet for the premiere of several short films marking the anniversary. Greeting guests was one of 175 wee steel coos, certainly the most papped thing that evening.
📰 In 2016, there was only one thing on farmers' minds - Brexit. Affecting farming across the country, it was a huge topic of conversation, and was front-page worthy, especially with a photo like that!
🚊 With tens of thousands attending the show, we helped launch a joint ticket with Edinburgh Trams in 2017. The animals certainly knew the right way to head!
🐮 Speaking of transport, way back in 2013, we gave our many international visitors a true Scottish greeting, complete with a Highland Cow photoshoot. Definitely one to remember!
Wishing everyone at this year's event a wonderful show!

A busy week for Represent – and it didn’t stop today!
Judith attended Causeway: Ireland Scotland Business Exchange’s annual Glasgow lunch at The Corinthian, a fantastic networking event that brought together a diverse mix of businesses interested in strengthening trade and relationships between Ireland and Scotland.
The day began with an inspiring welcome from Jerry O'Donovan, Consul General of Ireland in Edinburgh, along with Scotland GAA and event sponsors Freedom Boat Club Loch Lomond - a great start to an afternoon full of valuable connections and cross-border collaboration.
