We would love to hear your opinions! Our new annual member survey is now live, giving our members the opportunity to share your views, experiences and ideas.

As VAS develops into its next chapter - following our move to SCIO status at the start of 2026, the launch of our new website and expanded programme of exhibitions, residencies and mentoring - we want to better understand the VAS membership. Your responses will tell us more about who you are and how you engage with VAS. Knowing this will inform the VAS strategic direction and future priorities. The survey should take approx. 5 minutes to complete and your responses will help shape the VAS priorities and plans for the year ahead.

Please take the time to share your thoughts by completing the survey (link in our bio).

All responses are anonymous.

Deadline: 31st July 2026

We are delighted to announce this year’s recipient of our Both Project Residency, Becky Little!

Becky (Becky Little @ Rebearth) is an artist and builder whose work is grounded in over thirty years of working with earth. Her practice emerged from a long involvement with traditional buildings and craft skills, gradually expanding into sculpture, photography and writing.

Working across these disciples, Becky uses making as a way of thinking and feeling her way into a place. Much of her work begins outdoors through walking, gathering and spending time with materials in the landscape from which they emerge. She is interested in the relationships between nature and culture, and in how stories of land, water and people become intertwined.

Becky first visited the Isle of Eigg over twenty years ago, returning several times with her young family in autumn. Having explored ways of listening with soils, plants and other earth-based materials, working with coastal soils and sands in Fife and Orkney, she is seeking to develop this work in the Hebrides.

“I am interested in what happens when a place that is already familiar is encountered differently. What can be learned by spending time with the island’s eroding shorelines, weather and water, not as a visitor, but as an artist?”

This residency, made possible through partnership with Bothy Project, will take place in October 2026, when Becky will spend a full week at Sweeney’s Bothy in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. We look forward to sharing more about her residency journey later this year.

Our members currently exhibiting at Inverness Creative Academy are working across painting, print, textile, photography and mixed media. Strata is an exhibition which focuses on how landscape is held through surface and shaped through form. Whether working through depiction or material process, the artists consider landscape as something formed rather than fixed. Each work holds a relationship between what is seen and what is made.

Exhibition runs 27 June - 31 August 2026
9-5pm Weekdays, 9-4pm Saturday, Closed Sunday
