FORUM is Recruiting!

FORUM – University of Edinburgh’s Postgraduate Journal of Culture & the Arts is looking for a Deputy Editor and Assistant Editors to join our editorial board and work on the journal’s 34th issue. All candidates for these positions need to be enrolled in a PG programme (either Taught or Research) for the entire length of the academic year 2022–2023.

The Deputy Editor will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and the Assistant Editors for the academic year 2022–2023, before taking over as Editor-in-Chief in 2023–2024. Therefore, all the applicants for this position are required to remain either PGT or PGR students for two academic years. Although most of the editorial duties can be carried out remotely, the next Deputy Editor will need to be available in person to co-organise and host a number of events related to the journal (issue launch, team-building events, etc.).

The Assistant Editor will be an integral part of the review team, working with the Editor-in-Chief, the Deputy Editor, and other Assistant Editors to decide which manuscripts go forward, and work with the article authors to prepare their piece for publication. This is a 1-year position but can be extended for another year (2023–2024).

Ideal candidates will have the following:

· Prior experience of working with FORUM (preferred, but not essential)
· Proofreading and editing skills
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
· Leadership and teamwork skills
· Able to organise and run training workshops
· Able to attend editorial meetings in both semesters
· Proficient in, or able to learn, simple web technologies (MailChimp, Gmail, FORUM’s journal website)

To apply, please send a short CV and cover letter (max. 400 words) to [email protected] by 26th October, 2022. In your CV, please mention 3 keywords defining your area of study/research and the end date of your PG programme.
