Another in-person event 😱😬🤸

Next Wednesday 7th, in London 🇬🇧! Ok so there is a brilliant UK network for women in comms, called (if you work in PR or comms DEFINITELY take a look). I will be joining a brilliant fireside panel - with Gabriella Griffith, Richard Ottoy ( a dad working for whose wife’s back to work experience made him passionate about… yep… ) and Claire Mullarkey who is UK Sales Director at .

Next week (Wednesday 7th of Feb!) we will be discussing the aptly named “The Power Of Your Village” - to explore how work and home can be improved, by utilising the resources around us to and ensure all parents, and carers, feel validated and supported at work.

Join us next week to learn about how we can all become an ally to those who are parenting or caring in the workplace, and empower those around us to bring their most authentic selves to work.

THE DAY WE JUMPED (and why you should, too)

So this was my husband’s birthday, this year. Six months ago that feels like a lifetime ago.

We had just made a life altering decision -  in the context of so much family difficulty, and were completely overwhelmed by uncertainty and responsibility.

We left the kids with my MIL 🙏.We swung by a garage that had an M&S food, bought a bottle of champagne 🍾 , dragged it up Arthur’s Seat (big hill in Edinburgh) in a flimsy carrier bag.

The wind was insane, it was that awful February yuck damp weather 🌧️ 🌬️❄️ but actually it was exactly what we needed.

My husband was miserable 😖. He’s a workaholic who cares deeply about his job, and had reached his limit with a really difficult situation.

We were not doing well 😔 . I was overwhelmed by keeping 2 tiny kids going, preparing manically for the launch of , supporting my extended family, and also watching my usually unflappable partner be…. Well…. truly flapped.

We opened the champagne and thought, right. This is a pile of sh*t. But, it is time to swing this around - right now - and take a HUGE plunge and both go it alone with our work.

My husbands lifelong dream of doing his own thing had just whacked us, straight in the face, as the main option available to us. Time to jump.

Looking back on this photo I am struck by the emotion of that day.

I was terrified that our main earner was not earning. I was terrified that my own business wouldn’t be enough. I was terrified that our savings/situation wasn’t going to work.

But, we absolutely have made it work 🙌

(Btw - It doesn’t look ANYTHING like we imagined it would 😂😬)

I often see my clients, or those of you who DM me, on the edge of this cliff too. Terrified to jump. Worried about failing. Worried about it not working. But cliche or not - I’ve lived it - ✨ life TRULY begins when you push yourself outside of what you’re comfortable with ✨. I still feel like I’m jumping, every day, but I’ve embraced it 💜.

If you are thinking about changing jobs after your baby, and are wanting to know if it’s the right thing (or not), The Spring Back Guide is here.
