FLUSH WITH PRIDE!
I had the great pleasure of officially opening the new toilets at South Morningside Primary last week – and what a loo-vely moment! The kids even performed an incredible song to celebrate – they really wiped the floor with their performance.
The school has been waiting 40 years for these facilities so I was very pleased to be able to help the school secure the funding needed. It may seem like a small change but it will make a big difference every day – a reminder of how important it is to invest in the facilities in our schools. Thank you to everyone at South Morningside for inviting me to a Friday morning that I'll remember for a long time!

SUPPORTING TESCO’S WINTER FOOD COLLECTION
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bruntsfield Tesco to support their Winter Food Collection. It was wonderful to meet the store team, volunteers, and shoppers, and to see first-hand the difference this initiative makes for families across Edinburgh Southern.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated—your generosity will help ensure essential food reaches those who need it most this winter. Next time you're in the store, I encourage you to pick up one of Tesco’s pre-filled donation bags to make a big difference!
PARENTS DESERVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO THEIR CHILD AT SCHOOL
It is a fundamental principle that parents deserve to know what happens to their child at school. Parents are very used to the slips that come home when their child has tripped in the playground. If that is how we record accidents, I cannot understand why we don't record deliberate restraint and seclusion at school.
This morning it was my turn to give evidence to the Scottish Parliaments Education and Young People Committee. Another important step forward in the members bill process for my Restraint and Seclusion in Schools (Scotland) Bill. After the Committee produce a report, it will come before the whole parliament for a Stage 1 debate.

VISIT TO THE HIVE AT THE ROYAL EDINBURGH HOSPITAL
It was great to visit The Hive at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital — a brilliant service run by SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) that provides a welcoming space for in-patients to socialise, be creative, and take part in activities like music, art, and computer lessons.
During my visit, I joined their music jam session and saw first-hand how much The Hive means to the people who use it. The staff and volunteers do incredible work creating a supportive environment where recovery and wellbeing come first.
My thanks to the SAMH team for the warm welcome - it was insightful to hear about the opportunities and challenges they are facing at the moment.
