Work Update – Margaret’s Castle, Ardglass
A quick update on the conservation works currently underway at Margaret’s Castle in Ardglass.
Vegetation has been carefully removed from the wall head to prevent further damage to the historic masonry. The wall heads have also been repointed using lime mortar to help shed water and allow it to run off the walls properly.
In addition, spot pointing has been carried out to areas of loose masonry on two elevations of the castle to help stabilise vulnerable sections of the structure while maintaining the integrity of the historic fabric.
These works form part of the ongoing effort to protect and preserve this important local landmark. Further updates will follow as work progresses.

A recent project in Holywood, Co. Down
We built these stone retaining walls and seating area using random rubble sandstone, paired with limestone steps to create a strong, timeless approach up to the house. Using random rubble gives the walls a natural, characterful look that sits beautifully within the garden, while the limestone steps tie everything together and provide a clean, durable finish.
A great example of traditional materials used in a way that feels both classic and practical. Really pleased with how this one turned out.
