π‘ **THE OLD STABLES β WEβRE NEARLY THERE...** π‘
There comes a point on every project where you stop just seeing scaffold, timber, tools and dust...
And you finally start seeing the finished home.
At **The Old Stables**, weβre very nearly at that point.
The roof is on, the external oak cladding is coming together beautifully, and the building is starting to show the character we knew was hiding underneath all the construction work.
This project has always been about finding the right balance between old and new.
Keeping the charm of the original stable building, while carefully introducing modern construction methods, insulation, services and finishes to create a warm, practical and beautiful home.
The oak detailing is now really starting to bring the outside together. It gives the building that natural, traditional feel while tying in perfectly with the brickwork and clay roof tiles.
Of course, the scaffold is still doing its very best to ruin every photo... π
But not for much longer.
There are still plenty of final details to complete, and as always, itβs those last details that take time. Corners, junctions, trims, finishes, checks and all the little bits nobody notices when theyβre done properly.
But we notice.
And thatβs what matters.
The sun has been out, the team have been pushing on, and every week this building is looking less like a site and more like a home.
Weβre nearly there now.
And we canβt wait to see this one properly revealed when the scaffold finally comes down.
Watch this space... **The Old Stables is almost ready to show itself off.** π‘β¨

ππ‘ **35Β°C OUTSIDE... 15Β°C INSIDE.** π‘π
That isn't a typo.
While temperatures outside have been reaching **35Β°C**, the team have been working inside this Passive House in a comfortable **15Β°C**.
And here's the really impressive part...
The house isn't even finished yet.
There are still trades working throughout the building.
The plasterboard isn't complete.
The final airtightness hasn't been achieved.
The Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system hasn't even been commissioned.
Yet the insulation and building fabric alone are already doing exactly what they were designed to do...
Keeping the summer heat outside.
This is why we're so passionate about Passive House construction.
Most people think they're only designed to keep homes warm during winter.
In reality...
They also help keep homes comfortably cool during the summer.
It's not air conditioning.
It's not clever gadgets.
It's intelligent building design.
Every stud.
Every airtight seal.
Every layer of insulation.
Every junction.
Every measurement.
Every detail matters.
Months of planning and precision all come together to create a home that's comfortable every day of the year, whatever the weather outside.
We're incredibly proud of the work that's going into this project and can't wait to show you the finished result.
βοΈ And here's one final fact that usually leaves people scratching their heads...
We're certainly not thinking about turning the heating on today...
But when winter arrives, the owners of this home won't be switching on a boiler and radiators throughout the house.
Instead...
They'll switch on **one single electric radiator.**
Yes...
**One radiator.**
That's all it takes to comfortably heat this entire home.
Just stop and think about that for a moment.
From **35Β°C outside and 15Β°C inside during summer...**
..to **heating the whole house with just one radiator in winter.**
That's the difference a Passive House can make.

π₯΅βοΈ 35Β°C... AND WE'RE STILL SOLDIERING ON! βοΈπ₯΅
The forecast says 35Β°C...
Our forecast says...
**"Mostly sweaty, with a 100% chance of an ice cream break!"** π¦π
The team have been cracking on despite the heat, keeping projects moving while making sure everyone takes regular breaks, finds a bit of shade where they can and, most importantly, keeps well hydrated.
When temperatures get like this, looking after the team comes first.
Hard hats.
Sunscreen.
Plenty of fluids.
Regular breaks.
And today... a well-earned Cornetto or two! ππ¦
I think productivity came to a complete standstill for about five minutes...
Not because anyone was tired...
But because nobody wanted their ice cream melting before they'd finished it! π
Working outside in temperatures like these is no joke, and I'm incredibly proud of the whole team. They continue to turn up every day, support each other and keep delivering the high standards we expect, whatever the weather decides to throw at us.
Although I'm beginning to wonder if the ice cream van should become one of our approved suppliers... π€π¦
Stay cool everyone.
Drink plenty.
Look after yourselves.
And if an ice cream van happens to pull up outside...
Well...
It would be rude not to! ππ¦βοΈ

π‘ THE OLD STABLES β TAKING SHAPE π‘
It's always exciting when a project starts making the transition from a construction site into a home.
Over at The Old Stables, that transformation is happening right before our eyes.
Over the past few weeks the team have been pushing forward on multiple fronts. Internally, the plastering works are progressing well and the rooms are finally beginning to show their true shape and character. The vaulted ceilings, feature roof lights and large openings are now flooded with natural light, giving a glimpse of what this beautiful conversion will soon become.
Every project has those moments where you walk through the door and suddenly think...
"Yes, I can see it now."
I think we've reached that point.
Outside, work continues on the external timber detailing and cladding. As with many older buildings, there is no such thing as a standard detail. Every junction, every corner and every interface has to be carefully considered to ensure the finished product not only looks right but performs exactly as it should.
What I love about projects like this is the balance between old and new.
Retaining the character of the original building while introducing modern construction methods, insulation standards, services and finishes is no easy task, but when it all starts coming together, it's incredibly rewarding to see.
The latest plastered finishes have completely changed the feel of the internal spaces, softening the rooms and allowing the natural light from the roof lights and windows to bounce throughout the building.
Although I do have one concern...
I've always encouraged the team to take their allocated breaks, sit down, have a brew and have a laugh together.
But I think the piano may be taking things a little too far! πΉπ
The piano has actually been on site since the very beginning of the project, quietly sitting in the corner while all the construction work has been going on around it.
For months nobody has really paid it much attention.
Then again...
Perhaps that's because nobody wanted to encourage Pip.
As many of you now know, Pip is a musician and, after this week's tea cup incident, has officially earned the title of "The Mad Hatter." π©β
So now I'm starting to wonder if the piano has been part of his master plan all along.
One minute he's fitting timber cladding.
The next he's halfway through a rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody while the rest of the team are supposed to be on their tea break. πΉπ
Fortunately, no concerts have been reported so far...
But we'll be keeping a close eye on him.
All jokes aside, it's fantastic to see the building starting to come alive. Seeing the original character of the old stables sitting alongside the new works is exactly what makes projects like this so rewarding.
There is still plenty to do.
π¨ Second-fix works
π‘ Electrical installations
πΏ Bathrooms
π¨ Decoration
π‘ Final finishes
But with each passing week we're getting closer to handing over another fantastic project.
The scaffolding, tools and dust will eventually disappear...
What will remain is a beautiful home that started life as an old stable building.
It's projects like this that remind us why we love what we do.
Every week brings another piece of the puzzle together, and we're getting closer to seeing this transformation completed.
Watch this space. The transformation is only just getting started.
